For decades, talented songwriters have been inspired to write incredible music giving glory and praise to God. These songs are timeless and deserve to be shared with everyone.
The Hymns Unleashed Project is all about trying to introduce some of those wonderful melodies found in famous hymns to those who would not otherwise know them. We want talented musicians to take a priceless hymn (of praise, worship, adoration, prayer) and make them uniquely your own, much like Jesse did with “It Is Well With My Soul” (see video above). Let these songs inspire you, possibly leading you in a way that will utilize your own God-given talents in a way that might even suprise you!
Many hymns have never been heard on anything but a piano or organ. While there is nothing wrong with that, we find that same hymn can be extraordinarily beautiful when played by a trumpet, a violin, a guitar, even a ukulele. Just as all creatures, no matter how different we all are, have a voice to offer to our Creator, each instrument has a voice to do the same.
We hope and pray that by doing so, some of those hymns will appeal to:
- Young people (yutes).
- Boomers who grew up with the likes of Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top, or any of those good old rockers (old hippies).
- Anyone who likes other genres of music.
The genre isn’t really important, so long as it isn’t the same as what we find in our hymnals.
NOTE: For now, let’s concentrate on music that has no copyright.
